The badminton robots were created through the spirit of competition. Our team at Robomanipal was tasked with creating them for the Aisa Pacific Robocon 2015, where robots would face off against each other in doubles matches. We developed the robots over a span of 6 months. We made use of meccanum wheels to achieve holonomic motion and pneumatic systems for racket actuation. 

We had to improvise various systems due to cost and weight constraints, For example, we converted soft drink bottles into air tanks for out pneumatic applications as they were lightweight, cheap and could hold pressures up to 6 bar.

I was involved in the mechanical design of the robot chassis and the development of the pneumatic control system for racket actuation.
